changing

Some have wondered why I changed the look of my blog. As much as I liked the old, plain version, I felt the need for a change. It is coming up on the one-year anniversary of this blog. I contemplated retiring it. Sometimes I get too immersed in writing for it, and I neglect my work. Also, one year is a long time. But rather than shut it down, I thought I would try giving it a makeover. I wish that I knew more HTML so I could really make substantial changes to the templates that BLOGGER gives us. Next project, then...

Speaking of changing, one thing that I REALLY wish would change is the profusion of Christmas music that bombards me wherever I go. It will drive me crazy. Year after year, the same insipid tunes play from Thanksgiving until the holidays thankfully go the way of all things, at least for another eleven months. Someday I will have had too much, and I will smash the speakers in some shop somewhere, get arrested, and be branded a scrooge. Oh well.

Yes, nice design!

I will bail your ass out of the slammer if you get arrested, b/c I will support you 100% for kicking Muzak's ass! I've been hearing some wonderfully remixed/covered holiday music (mostly from the 30s and 40s with a current twist) ; I'll have to post some if I figure it out.

And I'm glad you haven't retired your blog. I've also considered it. But then I think: would I ever retire a journal? I still have my journal from when I was 8, with pages reserved for my adult life. But I know how you feel: when blogging seems like work, or like it's interfering with your work that supports the life that enables you to blog, then maybe it's time to sign off.

Anyway, in the meantime, I'm glad you're finding some balance to blog. Thanks for that.

Is it the classic "Frostie the Snowman" to which you object, or the celebratory "Santa Claus is coming to town"? Or could it possibly be the sentimental "I saw Momma kissing Santa Clause..."?

What are these sickly songs intended to sell I wonder - earplugs?

Please don't retire your blog. I wouldn't have seen your wonderful pictures if it hadn't been for your blog.

Re templates: there's a "User Mode" offered by the Opera browser that allows you to read blogs (or any other website for that matter) - complete with photos - in white on black (white text, black background), which I use to read interesting blogs that are a bit trying on the eye in terms of design.

PS: I couldn't get italics to work. Maybe it's because I'm using Opera (I usually use Firefox). Interesting.
