day of sadness

The horror of the situation in Asia makes today seem surreal. I hear the burbling voices of the television (on in the other room) and the giddy forced happiness of the news announcers and I can't imagine what they are thinking. The entire world should be silent in the memory of those who died and those who are suffering now.
