Fluxus was an art movement that celebrated the mundane and the absurd by elevating acts that describe these qualities to the level of "high art," and in doing so created the question that bedevils us in the present: is there validity in any distinction between "high" and "low" art. Is the music of Britney Spears as much art as Beethoven's Third Symphony?
But Fluxus seems dated, not uninteresting, but a dead end. That is why I was quite surprised to come upon this series of works by a young Italian composer. What might have been original and surprising in 1970 does not work for the present, and I am surprised to see that anyone is still following this path so doggedly.
