I am actually making real progress on FIELD MUSIC: ASH (saxophone and `cello), a commission which I was supposed to finish a year ago. I had so much trouble getting going on it, and now it appears that I might actually finish it by the end of the month. This is a tremendous relief. In many ways starting a piece, even working after it has begun, is like crawling through a cave without a flashlight. Some days I would rather do just about anything than have to work on it, because it can be so damned difficult. Ask any composer (or any artist or writer) and I think that he or she would agree.

For some reason I know what you are talking about. But good luck and feel it will come to you...at some point...then you will find the light at the end of the cave quickly.
Wishing you the best..
A friend of Maddog's and saw your link there. Hello from South Florida. Suzie (smiling)
