Last night, at 9:30, for no reason that I can ascertain a barrage of fireworks lit up the sky outside my window and made the most horrendous noise, scaring Pomona and Tuna and freaking me out a bit too. I hate fireworks -- not visually, but sonically -- and find them unsettling. But the sky looked quite dramatic all lit up, although my hands were too shaky to get good pictures.

Funny... Leon and I were sitting on the steps in front of his building last night, enjoying the nighttime breeze, when we heard these thunderous sounds from the distance. A storm is approaching, I said to him. No, they're fireworks. And he was correct. But for what?
