The summer is coming to an end, evident in the changing light and shorter days. The weather is cooler, the air holds a crisp promise of cold weather to come, and my days change in their rhythm. I attend to scheduling classes at school, to organizing my teaching material, and to figuring out a workable balance among composing, teaching, running a large and vibrant department, and maintaining some time for myself. I feel neutral, neither anxious nor sad. It's more of a calm patience, awaiting what the coming weeks hold for me.
